I genuinely hate the dentists. The sound of the drill. The intense vulnerability of positions. The pain. The 'dentist or Bell's Palsy?' look you get for hours after. Last time I went to a dentist was in the UK (not great) and about 25 years ago (equally, not great). Finally got a toothache I couldn't ignore until it went away and, after briefly considering pliers, Baxter Dental is where I went to, booked in as an emergency. All I can say is once I summoned up the courage to actually go in, I felt like a complete arse. From reception to the chair, everyone is patient, kind and happy to explain what's going to happen. They did a thorough assessment, gave me a detailed 'total cost' to fix everything wrong (because, yeah, 25 years) and the order to do it in. I now genuinely look forward to going back. Yes, there's pain from the needle for fillings and yes, the sound and feel of the various tools is unpleasant (25 years of crud being removed was a hard day), but they do good work and they seem very much to care.Highly recommended to anyone who hates or is terrified of the dentist, or is embarrassed or even ashamed of the state of their teeth. You're in good hands here.
